What members get

The template library

Every template in the store: the California handbook, interview scorecards, onboarding kit, pay equity workbook, performance review and PIP set, and more. Annual members unlock all of them on day one; monthly members unlock one a month and choose which.

The Desk Brief and compliance calendar

Every month, the California rules that changed and what they mean at your headcount. Plus a calendar of every recurring filing, posting and training deadline, each with its official source.

Ask the Desk

Two written HR questions a month, answered by me within two business days. Send the facts; get a clear next step you can act on.

Monthly office hours

The first Thursday of each month at noon Pacific, live on Zoom. Bring a situation, ask in the room or in writing, and hear how others handled theirs. Not recorded, so members can speak freely.

Member pricing

Ten percent off quoted engagements and merchandise while the membership is active, and first access to new toolkits before they reach the store.

Templates are documents and general information, not legal advice for your situation. Members needing a document reviewed for their facts should take the retainer or book a consult.

Two ways to have HR

Fractional HR

$5,000 to $10,000 / month

My thinking and my hands. I run the HR function with you: hiring, policy, employee relations, separations, and compliance.

HR advisory

$2,000 to $4,000 / month

My thinking, your team's hands. I advise the person carrying HR inside your organization, and your team does the work.

Where you land in each range depends on headcount and scope, set on the free consult.

What monthly HR covers

This is the arrangement for organizations that need HR to exist without hiring a department, and for individuals carrying an HR function alone inside one. You get direct access rather than a ticket queue: the same person every time, who already knows your files.

Hiring and onboarding

Job descriptions, interview structure, offers, the first-90-days plan, and the paperwork that has to close before day one.

Training and development

Manager training, required compliance training, performance review cycles and calibration.

Separations

Documentation, the conversation itself, final pay timing, and the file that has to hold up afterward.

Policy and compliance

Handbook maintenance, classification questions, leave administration, multi-state issues as you hire across lines.

Employee relations

Complaints, accommodation requests, terminations, and the escalations that cannot wait a week.

Anything else

The questions that have no category. Ask them as they come up rather than saving them for a scoped project.

Includes the membership library at no extra cost. Month to month with 30 days' notice, so nothing in progress is left open. Urban Human Resources is an HR consulting practice, not a law firm, and monthly HR is HR support rather than legal representation.

One-time

Project or tier

A defined piece of work with an end date. See the individual tiers or company services.

Not sure which, or need something between them

Bring the situation to a free twenty-minute consult and I will say plainly which of these fits, including when the answer is none of them.
