These terms govern your use of urbanhumanresources.com and any purchase made through it from Urban Human Resources, an HR consulting practice in Oakland, California. By purchasing or subscribing, you agree to them.
Where you sign a separate engagement agreement or statement of work, that document controls if it conflicts with these terms.
Different purchases carry different terms, because some are delivered within a day and some are work performed over weeks.
All payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout and are never collected or stored on this site. Eligible purchases can be paid over time with Klarna, Affirm or Afterpay at checkout; those plans are agreements between you and that provider, on its terms.
No refunds once the download has been delivered, because the file cannot be returned. If a file is corrupted, incomplete or not what the listing described, tell us within 14 days and we will replace it or refund it in full.
Full refund if you cancel before work begins. Once work has begun, refunds are prorated: you are charged for the sessions held and deliverables produced, and the balance is returned.
We do not guarantee a job offer, a hire, a salary outcome, or any particular result. Fees pay for the work performed, not for an outcome, and are not refundable on the basis that a search or engagement did not produce the result you wanted.
A deposit reserves a start date and is credited in full against the final fee. It is refundable up to 14 days before the reserved start date, and non-refundable after that, since the time has been held.
Email hello@urbanhumanresources.com with your order number. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within ten business days.
The HR Desk membership, $39 per month or $390 per year. Billed monthly or yearly to your payment method until cancelled. Cancel any time from the account link in your welcome email; access continues to the end of the period already paid for. Partial periods are not refunded. Templates you downloaded while a member remain yours to use inside your own organization; resale and redistribution are not permitted. Written answers and office hours are general HR information, not legal advice, and do not form an attorney-client relationship. Each month includes two written questions; unused questions do not carry over.
Fractional HR and HR advisory. Billed monthly at the rate set in your written scope: fractional HR within $5,000 to $10,000 a month, HR advisory within $2,000 to $4,000 a month. Month to month with 30 days' notice. Work outside the written scope is quoted separately before it begins.
The retainer is HR support. It is not legal representation, and it does not include appearing on your behalf before an agency or court.
We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it; if it remains unpaid, access is suspended until it clears. The newsletter is free and is not a subscription under this section.
Merchandise ships within the United States and is made to order for you. Production takes two to seven business days, then delivery typically takes three to five business days. Your size and shipping address are collected at checkout; check the size before paying, since each piece is made for that order. Shipping is $7.95 on items priced under $75 and free on items priced $75 and over.
Each piece is made to order, so we do not accept returns or exchanges for a change of mind or a size ordered in error. If an item arrives damaged, defective, misprinted or not what you ordered, email hello@urbanhumanresources.com with a photo within 30 days of delivery and we will replace it or refund it in full, including shipping.
Sales tax is applied where required. Digital templates are delivered right after payment: the download link appears on the confirmation page and is emailed to you at the same time. Each link works for seven days and up to 20 downloads; email hello@urbanhumanresources.com for a fresh link. Templates involve no shipping.
Urban Human Resources is an HR consulting practice, not a law firm. Nothing on this site, in a template, in a session, or under the retainer is legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is created. Our founder holds a J.D. but does not represent clients as counsel through this practice.
Employment law turns on your specific facts and jurisdiction and changes over time. Templates and guides are starting points that you should have reviewed by counsel licensed in your state before you rely on them. You remain responsible for your own employment decisions.
We use AI tools to support research and drafting. The judgment, the advice, and the final work product are ours, and client information handled through those tools remains confidential under our privacy policy.
Tools and data. Calculators, salary figures and self-checks on this site are estimates for planning, built from the public sources named on each page as of the date shown. They are not a guarantee of pay, an offer, or a compliance outcome.
Licence to use templates. A template purchase grants your organization a perpetual, non-transferable licence to use and adapt the document internally. You may not resell, redistribute or publish the templates, or include them in a product or service offered to others.
Site content. All text, guides and materials on this site are our property and may not be republished without permission. Quoting a short passage with attribution and a link is welcome.
Limitation of liability. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or the outcome of an employment dispute.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute will be heard in Alameda County, California. If we change these terms, we will update the date above; changes apply to purchases made after that date.
Client testimonials are unpaid. Some details are changed to protect confidentiality, as explained on the client results page.
Where a link on this site earns us a referral fee, or a newsletter issue or report carries a sponsor, that page or issue says so next to the link or the sponsorship. A partner or sponsor has no say in our advice, and a recommendation is never for sale.
Partners and sponsors receive no personal information about our readers, subscribers or clients. See the privacy policy.
